Commissioner Barry C Swanson, International Secretary for the Americas and Caribbean, announced today the appointment of Major Joan Canning as the Assistant National Chief Secretary at the USA National Headquarters. Major Canning, a Canadian officer, has served with distinction as Under-Secretary for the Americas and Caribbean Zone since July 2004. Her administrative skills and mission focus have contributed to her remarkable effectiveness in her current appointment.

Lt.-Colonel Susan McMillan, another Canadian officer, who has served as Territorial Financial Secretary and Territorial Secretary for Business Administration before serving as Chief Secretary in Charge in the South America West Territory, will take up the responsibilities of Under-Secretary for the Americas and Caribbean Zone. An added benefit to the appointment will be the Colonel’s fluency in Spanish and her knowledge of Latin America.
