DESIGN FOR LIFE WEEKENDS

An opportunity to explore your place in God’s kingdom

“It is a sad thing to live an uncalled life. We have a whole generation who have nothing more to do with their lives than what they decide. Vocation is a great blessing.” - Walter Brueggemann

WHAT?
The Design for Life Weekends are based on the basic philosophy that everyone is called by God to be salt and light in the world, and that world is different for individuals: some people are called to be homemakers, some to be missionaries in the workplace; some people work out their vocation in schools or hospitals; others serve as officers in The Salvation Army. Some people’s journey takes them to other countries; others work in their home locality.

At a DFL weekend, we want to help delegates consider the questions ‘where does God want me to be and how do I get there?’ We don’t expect them to come away with the final answer, but the program for the weekend should help them to continue to ask the right sort of questions. The weekend is an opportunity for vocational reflection in the right biblical and spiritual environment.

The weekend will be structured around these three questions:
Where have I been?
Where am I now?
Where am I going?

These three questions will be considered by a variety of speakers and within interactive group workshops. Delegates will be using a whole range of resources and material to help them think about their responses creatively. Throughout the weekend, these three questions are considered in the context of worship, prayer, and Bible study.

Design For Life is not primarily focused on Officership. However, it is one of the vocational options presented.

WHO?
Who should go? Anyone serious about wanting to seek god’s will in designing the next season of their life. Anyone who has embarked upon a particular direction in their career and wants to assess and confirm that route. Anyone who is unclear about what they want to do, despite the best advice from career advisors and personnel staff where they are now. Anyone who has sensed God’s call on their life and wants to affirm this and plan a route towards the final destination.

All ages are welcome at Design For Life, (over 18 years is recommended) and delegates will have the opportunity to fellowship and interact with others who are at the same stage of life.

MENU?
What’s actually in a Design For Life weekend?

Worship and prayer are the cornerstones. There will also be sound Bible-based teaching, spiritual gifts analysis, DISC Profile analysis, and perhaps most importantly, time and space to hear what God is calling the delegate to do as a Christian.
