The Salvation Army contributes to new community-based initiative

The former community policing office located at The Salvation Army Belkin House in Vancouver will become an office for a new property crime fighting initiative called The PropertyCop Program.

The program will be administered by PropertyCop Property Registration and Recovery Society, a non-profit society whose goal is to assist police locate stolen property and return it to the owner. The Salvation Army was able to donate the space for law enforcement officials to use.

"Property crime affects people at all levels of society," said Captain John Murray. "The Salvation Army is pleased to be a part of this unique initiative."

PropertyCop is a free database for individuals and organizations wishing to register valuable items such as bicycles and laptops. More information can be found at propertycop.org.
