Parking tickets wiped clean in exchange for donations

The University of Saskatchewan's parking services department has teamed up with The Salvation Army. The Trade Tickets for Toys program allows drivers to have unpaid U of S tickets wiped clean in exchange for donations of toys and non-perishable food items. People can take up to three tickets that are more than 14 days old and donate one food item plus one toy for each of the tickets.

The goodies willl then be handed out by The Salvation Army to the city's less fortunate citizens in time for Christmas.

People were lined up that morning at 5:30 a.m. to take advatange of the offer.

In one day, $250,000 worth of tickets were taken off the books and mountains of toys were deposited in the front lobby of The Salvation Army.
