New Westminster, B.C. - The Salvation Army thrift store has moved into the restored BC Electric Railway Depot at 774 Columbia Street. The depot first opened in September 1911 as part of the interurban and streetcar system that linked Vancouver, New Westminster and the Fraser Valley.
The restoration has attracted many to the store who have shared in the building's long history, particularly the troubled times when troops were dispatched from the old BCER station to aid in the battles of the Second World War.
Some seniors are bringing in photos of the troops departing.
