Kenora, B.C. - The following letter to the Editor was received a the Kenora News: Dear Editor:
Now that hunting season has come and gone, I would personally like to thank all the hunters, lodges and anyone else who donated their wild meat to the program that I started last fall.
I would also like to thank The Salvation Army for storing the meat and distributing the meat to those who were able to prepare it for those people who really needed the help this winter. This wild meat program was a greater success than I or anyone could have guessed, it was a little controversial but only for those who have never gone hungry or have needed assistance putting food on their own plate.
Remember just because hunting season is over and winter is soon gone there will still be a need in Kenora and elsewhere in the world for food for the less fortunate. The Salvation Army freezers will gladly take donations all year.
The sport of hunting will never die; people will always be hungry and always need help. I see no reason this wild meat program can’t be an annual event. Next fall I will put a reminder notice in the paper because I’m sure it can be a success every year.
Once again to all the hunters I thank you.
