Moncton, N.B.- The Salvation Army Correctional & Justice Services has many programs where dedicated volunteers and staff come alongside and reach out to wounded souls who come within their sphere of influence.
Finacial support from The Salvation Army and United Way has made many of the community programs a reality.
In recent years this office has developed programs such as OK-Kids, that promote the restoration of the family unit. OK-Kids helps children of offenders deal with the stigma attached to having an incarcerated parent. It also helps children to accept and live through the incarceration of a loved one.
In January, 2007, a program called OK-Families was developed to help incarcerated parents build stronger families, whether that is during incarceration or after realease.
Other correctional and justice services programs are Woman at the Well, Wraparound for Women, Keys to a Loving Relationship and Positive Lifestyles.
Each of these allow the incarcerated parent, the children and ultimately the entire family to work through the period of imprisonment.
