I am sorry to share with you the news that Sister Mrs. Betty Ashman, mother of Commissioner Helen Clifton, was unexpectedly promoted to Glory during the early hours of this morning, from her home in Edmonton, North-east London.

Mrs. Ashman was a lifelong salvationist, along with her husband, Bandmaster Don Ashman.  We thank God for her life, her effective witness and her energetic contribution to the ministry of The Salvation Army throughout the years.

Join me, please, in expressing to Commissioner Clifton and, through her, to her father and other family members, our heartfelt condolences and assurance of prayer support at this time of loss.

In the blessed assurance of resurrection to eternal life, we also see this day as a day for praise and thanksgiving as another faithful soldier of Jesus Christ has gone to receive her eternal reward.  May Betty's family be encouraged and uplifted by this hope.
