Overseas updates

Tue 12th Sep 2006 Add comment

Cpts Sheldon and Clare Feener, CO's at Gorseinon Corps in midwest Wales update us on life overseas. They write: In June we attended officers retreat where Commissioner Linda Bond was guest. Her preaching was powerful.

It is three years since we took up our appointment in Gorseinon in the South and midwest Wales division of the UK territory. Life is very similar to what we left in Canada and we have incredible support from our Canadian friends and colleagues.

Once the largest corps in the division, Gorseinon is now small and aging. Our band consists of six players, the oldest recently turned 87. The community has experienced change as well. Mining and steel works which operated are gone and the big company which employs many people is almost gone.

On a positive note we started a parents and toddlers group which has over 100 on the roll. More recently we have started a youth club which has had as many as 26 kids, 10-14, in attendance. God is good and continues to prove it daily.
