Booth College student introduces herself to Salvationist.ca

I’d like to use this blog space as a way to give people the inside scoop on what’s happening at Booth College. Hopefully you’ll get a new perspective and an inside look at life here. Since I’m going to be writing these blogs, I decided that I should introduce myself in this first one.

My name is Michelle. I’m 19 and I’ve lived in Winnipeg all my life. I grew up playing at the park down the street from my house and getting into all of the shenanigans that children tend to get into. I found Jesus when I was 17 and ever since then he has been my best friend. Eastview Community Church is my home church and I teach Sunday school there to a class of energetic kindergarten kids, whom I adore.

Other than hanging out with five-year-olds, there are many things that I like to do with my spare time. My friends and family are a big part of my life and I love to spend as much time with them as I can. We go to local shows together and can often be seen hanging out in coffee shops all over the city. I like to knit, read, play with my dog and do all sorts of other things. During the school year, however, I focus most of my attention on my studies.

I am in my second year of the Social Work program at here Booth College and I am pretty excited about that. I want to become a social worker because helping people is my life passion, and I want to do this as a career. I decided to go to Booth to obtain my bachelor’s degree because of the spiritual aspect of the college. I thought that it would be a really great experience to go deeper into Scripture and into my spiritual life while working towards a bachelors degree in social work.

I look forward to telling you more about life at Booth College!

Michelle Robert is a second-year student at Booth College in Winnipeg. She is studying social work and hopes to spend her life helping others. In addition to spending time with family and friends, she enjoys knitting, reading and playing with her dog.
