Booth College was the scene of much excitement this weekend as the graduating class of 2007 donned robes and caps to receive their certificates and degrees representing years of hard work and study. CFOT ranks were represented on stage as Captain Deana Zelinsky marched forward to receive her BA degree. Deana has been a lifelong learner and continues to broaden her knowledge through academic studies. Deana continues to look forward to future learning in her knowledge of God in His grace, and by the Holy Spirit’s empowering. Deana shares: Twenty years ago I enrolled in Bible college for the sake of others. Today, in response to the Lord’s calling on my life, I am new graduate with a degree in biblical and theological studies My officer training and Booth College education has helped instill a desire to live a life worthy of God’s calling.
During graduation weekend I was blessed to receive my degree in the presence of family, friends and most notably officers who were influential in my training and education while a cadet at CFOT Toronto. My heart is full of gratitude to all those who have journeyed with me this far; I share this accomplishment with you and give God all the glory.
The following quote by Bernard of Clairvaux was gift from a friend that I pass along to you.
“There are many who seek knowledge for the sake of knowledge:
That is curiosity.
There are others who desire to know in order that they themselelves may be know:
That is vanity.
But there are some who seek knowledge in order to serve and edify others:
And that is love.â€
