The Salvation Army, other faith-based groups, several refugee serving agencies and groups, will be participating in an exciting event to mark World Refugee Day on June 20, 2006.
The theme for 2006 is 'hope.' Hope is a powerful antidote to fear and despair. It is the fuel that drives refugees to persevere in the search for safety, protection and a dignified life for themselves and their families.
At the Yonge-Dundas Square, in downtown Toronto, from 12-6 p.m. refugees and their positive contributions will be celebrated.
Krystaal and Afrafranto (Juno award winning members of the African Guitar Summit), other performers and prominent speakers will be in attendance.
The Salvation Army will have a display tent and video footage describing their work with refugees.
