On Monday May 8, 2006, the Toronto Blue Jays once again put their support behind The Salvation Army.
For a numbers of years, Blue Jays President and CEO Paul Godfrey has acted as a spokesperson and the Blue Jays organization has donated their time, money and resources to support a variety of Salvation Army programs and services.
Salvation Army Night coincided with the annual May Red Shield Appeal and throughout the game, fans were exposed to the work of the Army through 30-second commercials on the big screen and a number of pre-game activities.
Prior to the game, Colonel Glen Shepherd; Chief Secretary for the Salvation Army Canada & Bermuda Territory threw out the first pitch and by all accounts, it was a strike. During the first few innings, volunteers handed out Salvation Army tissue packages to thousands who attended the game.
The Salvation Army would like to thank Paul Godfrey and the Toronto Blue Jays for their committed and ongoing support.
