Jeremy Mills offers an update for October 31. Salvationists are encouraged to support the Symposium 2008 delegates in prayer and to dream with them about The Salvation Army’s future.
The morning began with many gathering at 6:30 a.m. for the optional early morning prayer time. The message which surfaced was to pray constantly, and the prayers of many were for listening ears. Worship and devotions followed at 7:15 and the message was to have a heart that is in constant worship and adoration. This was an excellent foundation for the task of today.
“Today the exhortation to delegates is to dream. If God were to answer their prayers what would they see in the Army in five years time? As delegates move through the day they will record and discuss aspirations for the Army’s future along the five IDEAL themes.
Identity: How are we identified as an Army? What must remain? What should change?
Discipleship and Spiritual Growth: What does a spiritually vibrant Army look like?
Engaging Current Culture: What do we need to do to be most effective in reaching people with the gospel in the 21st century?
Authority and Formal Relationships: What is best for how we relate to one another within the Army structure?
Leadership in Organizational Change: What are the most needed qualities in leaders within the Army?
In an optimal Army that is faithful to God’s call, what do you see? Dream big!
