The General of The Salvation Army is pleased to announce that Commissioner William Francis, IHQ, is appointed as Chairman of the International Doctrine Council effective January 1, 2007. The commissioner is known as an avid student of Scripture and a keen proponent of Salvation Army doctrine. The nine-member Council plays an important role in advising Salvation Army leadership, councils and commissions on doctrinal and theological issues.
Commissioner Francis assumes leadership of the Council in succession to Colonel Earl Robinson who has rendered sterling service as chairman since 1996. Colonel Benita Robinson o has served as Secretary to the International Doctrine Council since 1997 and will also conclude her service at the end of this year.
