Newmarket, Ont. - The Salvation Army Northridge Community Church held its 5th community fall fair on Saturday, September 15. Approximately 1,200 people turned out to the church's most successful Rally Day ever. This event provided an excellent opportunity to connect with the local surrounding community.
The fair had a multitude of inflatables, carnival/pony and wagon rides, free barbeque and prize draw, a full elevated stage show with great bands ranging from the folk group 4 Neat Guys and A Housekeeper to The Elwins and an appearance from our own local Elvis Priestly, Pastor and Elvis tribute artist Dorian Baxter.
Youth that were part of the church's summer day camp attended. It was a great reunion for them. Other activities included a bake sale, face painting, popcorn and cotton candy. More than 60 congregational volunteers helped to make this a success. Special thanks also goes to Christian radio LIFE 100.3 and the Town of Newmarket.
Church Property Dedication Service - On Sunday September 16, following the morning service, two buses were made available to transport people to The Salvation Army Northridge Community Church’s new property site in Aurora for a special dedication service.
Following several songs with band accompaniment the Town of Aurora’s Mayor and Deputy Mayor brought special greetings, congratulations and words of support and encouragement to this new initiative. Greetings were also offered by Corps Officers Majors Brian and Glenda Bishop and Area Commander for the Greater Toronto Area Corps Ministries, Major Doug Binner.
Major Binner then unveiled the exciting new property sign announcing to passing traffic of the intentions of The Salvation Army in this community. All were then invited to a wonderful barbecue provided onsite by a crew of Northridge volunteers. Special thanks to the band members, Tim Sharp, Kathy Faulkner and the many other church volunteers who helped to make this day such a success!
