Canada and Bermuda's mission team to Germany returns home

Monday, June 19
On Monday morning the team spent time in different parts of the institution. A Canadian breakfast was held in the women's shelter, a Japanese meal with shared with a group of men. New friendships were initiated.

Tuesday, June 20
On Tuesday there was a nice article and photo in the Nuremberg newspaper.

Soccer fever in the Nuremberg Salvation Army: Every afternoon the kickoff caf' in the Gostenhofer Hauptstra'e is open for fans from the quarter and from the entire world. The team, six people from Canada and one volunteer from Bermuda, offers snacks and beverages and is ready to talk to the people. Cigarettes and alcohol are not allowed. The matches of the German team and matches in the Nuremberg Frankenstadium are transmitted live. Before the transmission there is often a culture or creative program.

Wednesday, June 21
Wednesday, as every other day, started with devotions. More than 100 visitors came to the caf'. To get a feeling for the match Ecuador vs. Germany, there was an information afternoon about Ecuador with Nina Koopmann, social worker in The Salvation Army Nuremberg. She has spent some time in that country and worked there for The Salvation Army. More than 70 guests attended this meeting. The team men had a pleasant afternoon with the clients of the second floor and the team ladies visited the Catherine Booth House for women.

Thursday, June 22
Together with some guests from the National Headquarters of The Salvation Army in Germany (David Bowles, Carsten Dax, Ute M'ller), the service team went to a Greek restaurant and watched the film "My Big Fat Greek Wedding". It was a nice and relaxing evening.

Friday, June 23
On Friday evening the service team said good-bye to the clients of the institution. They heard testimonies and personal experiences.

Saturday, June 24
On Saturday the service team had the opportunity to visit the Nuremberg castle and the dungeons.

Sunday, June 25
On Sunday the Nuremberg churches celebrated together with a Festival for Football Friends. The weather was wonderful and many people came together and took part in the different activities offered. The service team had its last official mission before returning to Canada on Monday, June 26.
