Corps members help clean up Red Deer’s parks
An enthusiastic team of all ages from Red Deer Church, Alta., took part in the city’s “Green Deer” campaign. They worked together for three hours on May 3, helping to clear local parklands of garbage that had accumulated over the winter months. The “Green Deer” campaign is an annual event, asking volunteers from the community to keep their city clean. Captains Jason and Tammy Sabourin, corps officers, read the creation account from Genesis 1 with the group before they began, reminding them of the instruction God gave to care for the earth. This was the first time the corps joined the activity as a group, and they plan to make it an annual event.
