Fri 8th Feb 2008 Add comment

Jubilee BrassBrantford, ON - On Sunday, October 14, 2007, Jubilee Brass of the Ontario Great Lakes Division, under the direction of Bandmaster Jim Gordon of Woodstock, visited the new Wyndfield Community Church of The Salvation Army in Brantford, Ontario.

The band conducted the morning service, led by the new band executive officer Major Wilson Noble, and then presented a musical festival in the afternoon.

The concert included golden oldies such as "To Realms Above" written by Brigadier A.H. Jakeway, and "Songs in Exile" by Eric Ball. The band also played the stirring new march "Wyndfield" specially written by Major Kenneth Smith for the local band as part of the opening celebrations that took place a few weeks before.

The picture of the band includes a former member of the solo cornet bench, Bob Bessant, who now resides at a local life-care centre and is a recent amputee. Bob was thrilled to be able to be transported to the concert. To the right of Bob is bandmaster Gordon and Wyndfield's corps officer Captain Gary Keeping.
