Women's Mission Team Heads to Liberia

From October 17-31, 2007, 10 women from the Canada and Bermuda Territory will be in Liberia. The team members are:

Major Gillian Brown: World Missions/Associate Director THQ (Mission Team Leader)
Major June Newbury: Women’s Ministry Dept THQ (Mission Team Leader)
Beverley Call: (Officer - Divisional Secretary for Business) Prairie Division, Edmonton
Nellie Hann:  (Lay person - North York Temple. Toronto)
Brandi Lucas: (Lay person - Comox Valley Corps, Courtney BC)
Major Catherine McFarlane: (Retired Officer, Winnipeg)
Kerri Cryderman: (Lay person - Saskatoon Temple. Saskatchewan)
Major Donna Millar: (Officer - Divisional Multicultural Ministries Secretary, Toronto)
Sharon Peterson: (Lay person - Kingston Citadel, Kingston Ontario)
Major Donna Simms:  (Officer - Divisional Children’s ministries Secretary, Gander NL)

liberia1050.jpgThe team will be ministering at the Catherine Booth Girls' Hostel developing teaching and mentoring through:


  • Bible Studies

  • Teaching cooking on electric stoves

  • Basic Hygiene and cleaning skills

  • Using sewing machines to make curtains for the hostel


liberia2031.jpgThe ladies will also be involved with some of the local women's ministries as they:

  • Visit/listen and encourage women

  • Teach and demonstrate how to provide interesting Home League programs by incorporating worship, education, fellowship and service

  • Share the leadership of Sunday services at the local corps in Monrovia
