Kitchener-Waterloo - Times have changed and The Salvation Army is no longer collecting money door-to-door.
There is a lack of volunteers to collect, givers are tired of charities knocking on their doors and residents are suspicious of fraudsters.
The Salvation Army is testing out new ways to raise money.
The Kitchener-Waterloo Salvation Army is asking residents to give a loonie a day in the month of May and drop their donation off at one of eight local radio stations or Salvation Army offices.
Money raised in the campaign does not go to Salvation Army churches. It is a lifeblood for food banks, halfway houses, prison outreach, parenting programs and other services offered by the Army.
