Pastoral care for military personnel in Afghanistan is provided by Canadian Forces chaplains. After the recent tragic death of eight soldiers, fellow soldiers in theatre and loved ones in Canada were immediately provided pastoral care and counselling from a solid network of military chaplains from different denominations.
The Salvation Army is a valuable partner in providing chaplains to the Canadian Forces. Cpt Patrick Lublink, who is presently serving as an Air Force chaplain in Bagotville, QC, reports that while he was not actively involved in providing pastoral care to front line personnel during the recent casualties in Afghanistan, he was able to minister to a young airman serving in Bagotville who knew two of the casualties. In addition, the captain is regularly in touch with Air Force personnel serving in Kandahar. He and his wife also actively minister to spouses and children of military personnel from Bagotville serving in operational theatre.
Cpt Lublink states that he is proud to represent The Salvation Army as a member of a professional and dedicated team of chaplains serving Canadian Forces personnel and their families.
