May 28 - On this day, 1914, the SS Empress of Ireland, carrying more than one thousand passengers including Territorial leaders, THQ staff and the Canadian staff band, set sail from Quebec at 4:20 p.m.
Just after 2:00 a.m. the following morning the ship was struck and lay at the bottom of the St. Lawrence River. Approximately 130 Salvationists perished in the disaster.
