Fraudulent Door To Door Canvassing

Mon 10th Dec 2007 Add comment

Toronto - Individuals have been reported canvassing door to door to raise funds for The Salvation Army's Christmas fundraising campaign in the Milton and Etobicoke areas.

The Salvation Army is NOT canvassing door to door during its Christmas fundraising campaign.

If you are approached to donate, please DO NOT GIVE. If you suspect a solicitation for charitable funds is fraudulent please contact your local police department to report the incident.

"We want people to be assured that when they give to The Salvation Army, they are giving hope today by investing in the future of marginalized and overlooked people in their community. It is disturbing that there are fraudsters preying on unsuspecting victims. This hurts the community and charitable organizations doing important work," says Captain John Murray of The Salvation Army.
