The Salvation Army Wyndfield Community Church is one of the newest buildings just opened in Brantford Ontario. On September 22 the church was opened by Majors Alf and Ethel Richardson, divisional commanders of Ontario Great Lakes Division.
The festivities started with a ribbon cutting ceremony where Major Alf Richardson and Lt- Colonel Merv Leach (relocation chair) cut the ribbon, supported by dignitaries and the Brantford band.
Following was a community barbeque and carnival in the church parking lot. Over 400 were in attendance. Many from the community attended.
The fun didn’t stop when the jumping castles went flat, as the evening brought over 200 into the new sanctuary for a local concert. The congregation was entertained from the moment it opened with a puppet show, and continued with selections from songsters, band, drama team, soloist and worship team.
Majors Alf and Ethel Richardson dedicated the new building on Sunday morning followed by a dedication of the newest baby boy Parker Fallis.
The theme “Come, Now is a time to Worship†lead by the worship team and supported by the band and songsters brought praise to our Lord who has provided so much for a congregation that worshipped in nursing homes, community centers and a school for the past year and half.
Under the leadership of Captains Garry and Dora Keeping the church now strives to be a strong solid presence in the new community. A Sunday afternoon concert with guest band Impact Brass from the Ontario Great Lakes Division was followed up with cake and fellowship putting an end to a very busy weekend for an excited congregation.
The hard work has paid off as each week we see new families coming into our fellowship. The first family to sign the new guest book said “what a blessing to have a Christian influence in our community†had won a door prize at the Saturday carnival. Several people have asked for visits and information, a great sign that the neighbourhood has been waiting for The Salvation Army to arrive. God is Good. Hallelujah! The Salvation Army is marching along.
