Deborah Kerr died last Tuesday in Suffolk England at the age of 86. She played 'Jenny', a Salvation Army worker, in a 1941 adaptation of George Bernard Shaw's " Major Barbara."
She was also known for her roles in "The Hucksters" "From Here to Eternity""The King and I" and several others. She was nominated as best actress in six movies and was given an honorary Oscar in 1994.
At her own suggestion, she volunteered with The Salvation Army so she could gain insight into her character.
Kerr is said to have quit movies in the late 1960s because she was appalled by the sex and violence that was increasingly a linchpin of films.
