Teeing off for the community

Wed 9th Aug 2006 Add comment

You might say that reaching out to make our community a better place one life at a time and having fun just don’t fit together. But when you are participating in the Annual Red Shield Appeal Golf Tournament, that’s exactly what you are doing.

In early June, sixty-four golfers gathered at The Wildewood Club in Winnipeg to support the Red Shield Appeal and enjoy an afternoon of sport and fellowship. Not even a severe afternoon thunderstorm which drove golfers from the course could dampen the enthusiasm for the event and its cause. As the teams gathered in the clubhouse to receive their prizes, everyone expressed the desire to return for the second annual tournament.

The Salvation Army is particularly thankful for the generosity of lunch, hole and prize sponsors and, above all, for the presence of all the golfers so willing to support the work of The Army and have fun doing it.
