Winnipeg, Man. - City police and local social agencies, including The Salvation Army, have teamed up to bring more attention to the problems caused by Winnipeg's street sex trade.
It's called a Sex Trade Reality Check. "We are trying to get people to talk about the sex trade in an educational sense." says Dianna Bussey, Salvation Army spokesperson. "Everyone who is involved is harmed."
The campaign involves prostitutes and their customers getting a booklet to read about the sex trade when they're arrested.
The booklet is now being circulated to some schools to educate younger men that buying sex is not a "rite of passage, but a form of exploitation," Bussey said.
