Langley, B.C. - This past weekend 62 bikes and riders left the Salvation Army parking lot in Langley as they participated in a fundraiser for the future Langley homeless shelter.
The Mercy Ride for the homeless was organized by the King's Riders, a Christian motorcycle club.
Currently, Langley only has temporary shelters during cold weather. The future shelter, estimated to house between 50 and 100 people will be a permanent accommodation for the homeless.
Salvation Army Envoy Gary Johnson has spent the past year raising money for the shelter project. He hopes to create a building that will not only shelter the homeless, but provide services that will help them get off the streets permanently.
