Citywide week of prayer in Niagara Falls

Mon 9th Oct 2006 Add comment

Niagara Falls - From September 24 to October 21,2006 Mayor Ted Salci, Members of Council and the Niagara Falls Ministerial Fellowship invited the Christian churches and community to pray for God's intervention and blessing on Niagara Falls.

The prayer week came about when A local pastor in town felt that God was leading him to talk to the mayor about the plight of the city. The pastor arranged a meeting and talked to the mayor for 1/2 hour about the evil presence in the city. The mayor thanked him for coming and the pastor left thinking he had done what God had told him to do, but nothing would come of it.

However, the mayor lost two nights sleep over the conversation and on the third day contacted a Christian friend, asking for guidance. The mayor's friend said the Bible tells us we need to pray and repent. So the mayor, along with the approval of city council, called for a week of prayer for the city. Every night people met in different churches around the city to pray. The Salvation Army Niagara Orchard Community Church hosted one the prayer night on Friday. It was an amazing week. There is a web site associated with the event at www.ourturn.ca if you want to check it out."
