When I was young, we were very poor. I was the baby in a family of six. My dad lost a lung in the Second World War and delivered flyers and whatever else he could do to support his family.
My mother sold Avon, making deliveries on her bike and there never seemed to be enough money to make ends meet.
I remember The Salvtion Army at Christmas. My mom cried. They arrived with a Christmas hamper that held for us the true meaning of Christmas ... people who cared enough about others to share their wealth with those who had little.
