A restored faith leads to new commitment

csm-thompson.jpgThompson, M.B. - I set out to establish a Christian life with God at a young age and I’ve strived to make my Christian walk something of a spiritual guideline for friends and family.

My father passed away at 35, when I was a child. My earliest memory was watching him from the window as his friends lead him to the car to attend church. He was so weak he could barely walk, but he had a smile on his face.

After he passed I remember admiring him for his strength, for his determination and for his faith. I wanted to be like him. My father’s belief in the Lord to the end inspired me to open my heart to the Holy Spirit.

I’ve spent many years doing the Lord’s work. I’ve done my best but there was a time when I lost sight of the path. Life without God sent me into a wasteland of iniquity that was haunting and cold. It filled my eyes with an icy emptiness until I could focus on nothing but the bad. It was too much. When I had nothing left, I fell to my knees and reached out to the Lord and He helped me back up on my feet. He was there for me. He restored my faith and I could feel him everywhere.

On June 3, 2005, I consecrated my life to my Saviour. He accepts me for who I was and for who I am.

I became a senior soldier in February, 2006 and in May, 2006, Captain Lindholm approached me and asked if I would serve the corps as corps sergeant major. I prayed for direction and strength. I accepted this post, and was commissioned in August, 2006.

I am a strong proponent for community support and the outreach Ministry.
The labourers are few and the harvest is great. We must pull others out of the wastelands and help them see there is more to life. We serve the Lord when we do everything we can to serve others. When we help each other, we improve the world.
